Tatarstan: 6 people killed in farm fire, 5 of them Uzbeks



A fire broke out in a building housing workers at a livestock farm in the Yelabuga district of Tatarstan. Six people, including five citizens of Uzbekistan, died in the incident. The fire is said to have been caused by a violation of the rules for using electric heating equipment.

Six people have died in a fire at a livestock farm in Tatarstan. Five of them are identified as citizens of Uzbekistan.

According to the Baza Telegram channel, a fire broke out at a farm in the Elabuga region of the Republic of Tatarstan at around 3 a.m. The building where the livestock farm workers lived burned down. There were 39 people in the house at the time of the fire, 33 of whom were able to be evacuated.

The fire was extinguished after an hour. Rescuers found six bodies at the scene. Five of the deceased were citizens of Uzbekistan. Their identities are currently being established by employees of the Uzbek consulate in Kazan. After that, their relatives will be contacted and work will begin to send the bodies home.

The initial cause of the fire is a violation of the rules for using electrical equipment. Work is ongoing to clarify all the circumstances of the tragedy.
