Russian security services monitor hijab wearing in the Caucasus
In Karachay-Cherkessia, officers from the Federal Security Service (FSB) are demanding that school administrators compile a list of female students wearing the hijab. This requirement reportedly applies even to first-graders.
The reports are regularly checked by the FSB officers, which puts pressure on teachers who, for various reasons, do not include the names of schoolgirls wearing headscarves in the appropriate list.
This shows that the colonial Russian government is restricting the practice of their religion by Muslim women in the Caucasus.
Earlier, a ban on face masks and hijabs in schools in the Vladimir region of Russia caused conflicts between Z-patriots and politicians from the North Caucasus republics.
