Russian Education Minister hints at "rewriting" of history in some CIS countries

Speaking at a session of the State Duma, Russian Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov alleged that history textbooks in some CIS countries contain a negative attitude towards Russia. He said this approach is especially true of the Soviet era.

According to him, the Ministry of Education is working with the relevant ministers of the CIS countries to agree on approaches to interpreting a single historical past.

He did not specify which countries he was referring to. Kravtsov added that Russia is building not only a "single educational, cultural and spiritual space" with these countries, but also "the future of the Eurasian continent."

Kravtsov has previously pointed out the negative treatment of Russians in history textbooks in a number of countries.
