Russia is making the Russian language exam more difficult for migrants

Russian language exams are becoming more complicated for immigrants who want to obtain a patent or residence permit in Russia.

According to Rosobrnadzor, the number of listening comprehension tasks in the exam will be increased from two to four. A mandatory minimum score is set for successful passing the exam. A similar mandatory scoring system has been introduced for the speaking section. These scores are required to obtain a temporary residence permit or permanent residence permit. The changes will come into effect on July 10, 2025.

In addition, it is said that the question bank for exams will be doubled starting June 23, 2025.
