"Reconciliation period" for families seeking divorce to be abolished

According to a message posted on her page by Presidential Assistant Saida Mirziyoyeva, the President has signed a law abolishing the "reconciliation period" imposed by courts during divorce proceedings.

Mirziyoyeva described this change as an important step towards protecting women from domestic violence and respecting their rights.

"If a person's dignity is not respected in the family and they are subjected to physical, psychological or economic abuse, there is no possibility of reconciliation," he stressed.

It was noted that this change is of great importance not only for women, but also for children growing up in an environment of violence.

The presidential aide also addressed parents, reminding them that it is not a shame for girls to return home to escape violence, but rather that forcing them to endure violence is a real shame.
