Number of Uzbeks killed in Turkey after poisoning with homemade alcohol rises to 17

On January 17, 2025, 3 more Uzbek citizens died in Turkey as a result of consuming counterfeit alcohol. The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul reported that the necessary documents are being prepared to send their bodies to Uzbekistan.

In addition, 5 more Uzbeks are being treated for poisoning from counterfeit alcohol in intensive care units in Istanbul hospitals.

It is noteworthy that some of our compatriots, although poisoned, tried to treat themselves at home and did not go to the hospital.

"When they were approached, they were told that going to the hospital could be financially costly. However, such decisions later lead to kidney failure, vision loss, and breathing problems," the report says.

According to the consulate, if you notice any symptoms of poisoning, you should call an ambulance by dialing 112 and be admitted to the hospital's "red zone." This service is provided free of charge in Turkey.
