Liability established for disclosure of information from closed court sessions
In Uzbekistan, disclosing information from closed court sessions without court permission will now result in criminal liability.
According to the new law, this is punishable by a fine of up to 18.75 million soums or up to 3 years in prison.
According to the amendments, if there are grounds for considering the case in closed session, the court shall issue a ruling on considering the case in closed session.
When a verdict is issued, persons participating in the closed court session are warned not to disclose information about the trial without the permission of the court, and a receipt is taken from them.
The receipt will also contain a warning about liability for violation of this obligation in accordance with Article 239 of the Criminal Code (Disclosure of information from an inquiry or preliminary investigation).
The law enters into force on the date of its official publication.
