The leaders of the Uzbek National Center and the deputy chairman of the Tajik diaspora are accused of "promoting illegal migration". According to the investigation, they helped foreigners obtain certificates necessary to obtain work and residence permits in Russia.

According to preliminary information, the arrested persons earned more than 1.5 million rubles from the sale of forged documents.

Computers, documents, bank cards, as well as 1.7 million rubles in cash were seized as a result of the searches in their workplaces and residences. The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case on the articles of commercial bribery and organization of illegal migration.

One of the arrested persons was imprisoned, and the other was given a precautionary measure in the form of prohibiting certain actions.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia also reported that over the past three years, about 14,000 cases of foreigners receiving language certificates without knowing the Russian language have been identified.

In recent months, Russian authorities have intensified the fight against illegal migration, especially from Central Asian countries. In the spring, the State Duma adopted a number of laws tightening the rules for obtaining citizenship. The police regularly conduct raids in places where immigrants live, many of whom have received Russian citizenship and are being sent for military service.

According to the information of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation published in the publication "Kommersant", as of September 1, 2024, 3,985 million citizens of Central Asian countries will live in Russia. Uzbekistan was the leader in the number of foreigners - more than 1.792 million people, Tajikistan with more than 1.231 million, Kazakhstan with 606.9 thousand, Kyrgyzstan with 262.8 thousand and Turkmenistan with 92 thousand citizens.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, there are about 739,000 illegal immigrants or 9% of the total number of foreigners. Most of them are citizens of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
