Kyrgyzstan prepares to export electricity to China

Kyrgyzstan is preparing to export electricity to China, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov announced on December 23 at an event dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Ministry of Energy.

The President noted that a number of strategic projects are being implemented within the framework of the development of the country's energy infrastructure. In particular, within the framework of the CASA-1000 project, all infrastructure construction for the export of electricity to Afghanistan and Pakistan has been completed. In addition, preparatory work is underway to build powerful substations that will ensure the supply of electricity to China.

Japarov also noted that the country has begun construction of solar and wind power plants and that favorable conditions are being created for investors. These conditions include tax breaks, investment guarantees, and the possibility of setting electricity prices in foreign currencies.

Large facilities such as the Kambar-Ata HPP-1 under construction in Kyrgyzstan are aimed at not only achieving energy independence for the country, but also providing it with the opportunity to export electricity to other countries.

Under the CASA-1000 project, it is planned to supply electricity from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to Afghanistan and Pakistan, and this project is considered an important step in strengthening regional energy cooperation.

Japarov also noted that not a single new hydroelectric power plant has been built in the republic over the past thirty years, and energy equipment has not been updated, and he highlighted the efforts of the current government in this regard.
