The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Kazakhstan has developed a draft law on the ratification of the Convention "On Establishing the Minimum Wage with Special Attention to Developing Countries" and plans to submit it to the Majlis soon, Zakon.kz reported.

The purpose of the Convention is to determine the minimum wage for all groups of workers, covering all sectors of the economy and categories of workers.

According to the Ministry of Labor, according to the 1998 declaration of the International Labor Organization, all member states must respect basic labor rights. Convention 131 was adopted on June 3, 1970 and ratified by 54 countries. Among the CIS countries, Armenia and Azerbaijan have already ratified.

"Ratification of the Convention ensures the future implementation of international standards for setting the minimum wage, and confirms Kazakhstan's commitment to comply with and implement international standards in this area."
