Kazakhstan bans women from wearing face veils

Both chambers of Kazakhstan's parliament have backed a bill banning the wearing of face-covering clothing in public. The document has been sent to the president for signature.

According to "Zakon.kz", we are talking about amendments to the law "On the Prevention of Crimes". On June 19 of this year, this document was considered in the Senate, but was not adopted. With some amendments, it was returned to the lower house of parliament - the Majlis. These amendments concerned the issue of providing housing to employees of law enforcement agencies.

However, members of the Senate agreed to the norms banning face-covering clothing in public places. The deputies of the Majlis reviewed the draft law and agreed to the proposed amendments. The law now needs to be signed by the President.
