Japarov signed the law on the construction of the "China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan" railway
The President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadir Japarov, signed the law on the ratification of the agreement on the implementation of the strategic project on the construction of the "China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan" railway signed in Beijing on June 6, 2024. This was reported by the press service of the head of state.
The presidential administration noted that the purpose of the law is to implement the necessary domestic procedures for the implementation of the agreement between the three countries.
According to the document, a Joint Project Company (JPC) will be established to implement the Kyrgyz-China-Uzbekistan railway project. Shares in the authorized capital for the implementation of the project will be divided among three countries: China will receive 51 percent of the share, and Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will receive 24.5 percent each.
The railway route is specified in the contract as "Kashghar - Torugart - Makmal - Jalalabad - Andijan".
Earlier, the cost of the project was estimated at 4.7 billion dollars. According to the head of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers Oqilbek Japarov, the construction of the railway will begin in August of this year.
