President of Kazakhstan Kasim-Jomart Tokaev decided to cancel the Astana International Forum due to the floods in the country. This was reported by the press service of the head of Kazakhstan.

"The head of state Kasim-Jomart Tokaev decided to cancel the Astana International Forum on June 13-14 of this year due to the need to save financial resources to eliminate the consequences of an unprecedented flood and large-scale destruction in Kazakhstan and to provide assistance to the country's citizens," the message reads. .

The President hoped that the participants invited to the event would understand this decision.

The report notes that the Astana International Forum will continue its work in 2025.

Earlier, the Ministry of Emergencies of Kazakhstan announced that since the beginning of March, the number of people evacuated from dangerous flood zones in the country has exceeded 100,000, and almost 40,000 of them are children.

10,100 evacuees returned to their homes.

In the regions of Aktobe, Kostanay, Akmola, Atyrau, North Kazakhstan, and East Kazakhstan, nearly 4,000 private residential buildings, 2,000 courtyards and country houses are under water.

To date, 35,551 people, 3,557 pieces of equipment, 750 water pumping equipment, 214 boats, and 14 airplanes have been involved in emergency rescue operations.
