Last year, Kazakhs spent almost 3 billion tenge ($5.7 million) on the services of fortune tellers and astrologers. According to Nur.kz, this figure is 75 times more than the previous year.

The fact is that interest in paranormal phenomena is growing in Kazakhstan. The demand for fortune tellers, astrologers, and psychics has increased significantly among the population.

Legally operating fortune tellers and fortune tellers paid a total of 2.9 billion tenge in taxes last year. In 2023, this figure was only 39.5 million tenge.

The largest share of this amount - 2.7 billion tenge - went to fortune tellers, numerologists, and astrologers. Psychics earned 225.7 million tenge.

Considering that most fortune tellers operate unofficially, the real numbers may be even higher.
