Hyundai Rotem of South Korea plans to produce electric trains in Uzbekistan. Negotiations were held in this regard at the Ministry of Transport. Earlier, a contract was concluded with the Korean company for the delivery of six trains on the Tashkent-Khiva high-speed route.


On Friday, the Deputy Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan, Jasurbek Choriev, met with representatives of the delegation headed by Kwak Chol'-hun, the head of the Global Rail Group company within South Korea's Hyundai Rotem company.

Gazeta.uz reports, citing the press service of the Ministry of Transport, that the project of localizing the production of modern electric trains in Uzbekistan was discussed at the meeting.

Today, a presentation was held regarding the proposal to manufacture the type of electric trains operated by the South Korean company KORAIL through localization at the Tashkent Passenger Car Construction and Repair Plant.

Information on the main technical characteristics of the electric trains planned to be produced on the basis of localization was presented.

The parties agreed to consider additional project opportunities, analyze the proposal and explore new production areas.

Let's remind that in June, during the visit of the President of the Republic of Korea, Yoon Seok-yol, an agreement was signed between Uzbekistan Railways, Temiryole Express and Hyundai Rotem on the supply and maintenance of six electric trains for the new high-speed line "Tashkent - Urganch - Khiva". .

In August, the president approved the technical and economic parameters of the procurement project of six Hyundai Rotem trains. Eximbank of Korea will provide a loan of 185.18 million euros for 40 years.

At the suggestion of Shavkat Mirziyoev, the electric train will be called "Jalaluddin Manguberdi". When it is launched, it is expected that it will be possible to reach Khiva from Tashkent in 7 hours (currently more than half a day).
