Heads of Central Asian intelligence services met in Fergana

On May 6, a meeting was held in Fergana between the chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan Kamchibek Tashiyev, the chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan Saymomin Yatimov and the chairman of the State Security Service of Uzbekistan Abdusalom Azizov.
According to the press service of the National Security Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the parties discussed current issues of mutual cooperation, including the fight against terrorism, extremism, illegal drug trafficking, illegal migration and smuggling, as well as other cross-border threats and threats.
Issues of cross-border cooperation and general efforts to create favorable conditions for the development of good neighborly relations between the countries were also discussed.
In addition, the issues of delimitation of the state borders between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan and the border between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan were discussed at the meeting.
"Participants of the meeting reached agreements on the delimitation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik borders and the acceleration of the demarcation of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz state borders, and practical measures to solve these issues based on the mutual interests of the parties were determined," the report says.
An agreement was reached on 889 km of the 972 km border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, which is about 90 percent of the total length of the border. Currently, intergovernmental delegations are considering the approval of the remaining 83 km.
