Four-story building collapses in Konya province

January 24, 2025. A four-story residential building collapsed in the Selcuklu district of Konya province, Turkey. The incident occurred in the evening, and rescuers are currently continuing to rescue those trapped under the rubble.

Turkey's Yeni Şafak newspaper reported that at least five people were inside the building at the time of the incident, two of whom were rescued. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

Mayor Ugur Ibrahim Altay said in a statement that the building lacked security measures and was old. He also said that all relevant services were quickly dispatched to the scene.

Videos circulating on social media show lights on the second floor before the building collapsed. Witnesses say they heard a loud crash and then the building collapsed like a house of cards.
