Erdogan: "Our goal is to bring Turkmen gas to Turkey through a pipeline across the Caspian Sea"
Ankara plans to bring Turkmen gas to Turkey via a pipeline under the Caspian Sea within the next five years, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at a summit in Istanbul.
He said that the first gas transit from Turkmenistan was carried out through Iranian territory on March 1 of this year, and 250 million cubic meters of natural gas have been delivered so far.
"We will deliver a total of 1.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas by the end of the year. Our initial plan now is to extend the contract for another 5 years. Our main goal is to bring Turkmen gas to our country through the Caspian transit pipeline. If this is achieved, we will have the opportunity to significantly increase gas flows not only for ourselves, but also for Europe," the Turkish leader said.
