Egypt tightens screening of foreigners, including those coming for study
Egypt has stepped up checks on foreigners arriving for Friday prayers. In particular, five Uzbek citizens were detained on suspicion of violating migration rules (one of them was later released).
Egypt has increased checks on the legal stay of foreigners, including students, in the country, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Cairo reports.
It is noted that embassy representatives visited and held talks with the responsible police stations in the Nasr City area of Cairo.
According to the embassy, as of May 13, five Uzbek citizens were detained along with other foreigners for violating migration rules. One of them was released after providing documents confirming his legal status. The rest will be subject to legal assessment and a decision will be made in accordance with local legislation.

Citizens of Uzbekistan were asked to strictly adhere to the rules of stay and always carry with them their identity documents, residence permit (iqomah) or student ID card.
