The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, signed the law on October 7, which provides for amendments and additions to the relevant articles of the Criminal Code. This law was adopted by the deputies of the Legislative Chamber on May 7, and approved by the senators on July 10.

According to Article 109 of the Criminal Code, intentional infliction of minor bodily harm: a) due to religious fanaticism; b) by a group of individuals or a member of an organized group or in the interest of this group; or c) for the use of weapons or objects that can be used as a cold weapon, a punishment of 1 to 2 years of imprisonment or 1 to 2 years of imprisonment is provided.

At the same time, according to Daryo.uz, in other cases, the responsibility for intentionally causing minor bodily harm was reduced. According to it, the criminal act related to the intentional infliction of minor bodily injury, which did not cause short-term deterioration of health or short-term loss of working capacity, is being removed from the criminal punishment, and changes are being made to the category of administrative offense.

According to the law, the changes serve to "ensure the peaceful and prosperous life of the population" and "improve the criminogenic situation in the country."
