Demographic crisis: Is Kazakhstan also looking for a solution?
There is a need to reconsider the demographic strategy in Kazakhstan, Senator Amangeldy Tolamisov said in a parliamentary question.
According to the senator, the country is facing serious demographic problems due to the declining birth rate, aging population, and especially the increased migration flow from the northern and eastern regions. Therefore, a comprehensive and scientifically based approach to existing problems is needed, says Tolamisov.
"The concept should cover all stages of life, from birth to active aging, and include territorial policy, labor mobility, reproductive and migration planning. The lack of a single center responsible for demographic and migration policy in the current system leads to a dispersion of powers. Therefore, we propose to give broader powers to one of the state bodies and strengthen these functions at the normative level," the senator said.
In addition, Tolamisov proposed the creation of a national center for analyzing demographic and migration processes that would be able to provide accurate forecasts based on socio-economic data. At the same time, the senator added that it is important to train specialists in this area.
