The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has awarded the 2024 Nobel Prize in Economics to Massachusetts Institute of Technology professors Daron Ajemoglu and Simon Johnson, as well as University of Chicago professor James Robinson.

The award was given to scientists "for research on the formation of institutions and their impact on well-being".

This nomination, unlike other main nominations of the award, was established by the National Bank of Sweden in memory of Alfred Nobel. The award is given for achievements in the field of economics.

The ceremony of awarding the laureates will be held on December 10, the day of Alfred Nobel's death.

The book "Why Nations Fail" co-authored by James Robinson and Daron Ajemoglu has been translated into Uzbek. It talks about why some countries are more prosperous.
