Azerbaijan reopens embassy in Syria after 13 years


Azerbaijan has resumed the activities of its embassy in Damascus after a 13-year hiatus, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry announced, Report reports.

According to reports, the charge d'affaires of the embassy has already arrived in the Syrian capital and has begun performing his official duties. The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry described this decision as a new stage in the development of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

The official statement noted that this step creates new opportunities for the development of partnership in the political, economic and cultural spheres. Baku also announced its support for the establishment of stable peace and tranquility in Syria, based on the principles of international law.

Recently, countries around the world have begun to reopen their diplomatic missions in Syria. In particular, France resumed its embassy in December 2024.
