Anorbank CEO kidnapped in Paris
On June 23, Kahramon Olimov, the main shareholder of Anorbank, was kidnapped in Paris, France, Le Monde reported.
The publication writes that after two days of detention in a villa near Nice, he was released on bail.
After his release, the Uzbek banker immediately went to the hospital. After a medical examination, it was discovered that he had numerous bruises and physical injuries on his body.
The 48-year-old banker is participating in the construction of a gas-cycle power plant in Surkhandarya region in partnership with the French company EDF. He traveled to Paris to meet with French partners as part of this project.
An Anorbank official confirmed that such an incident had indeed occurred and stated that Olimov used his own money to secure his release, and that the money of customers who had deposited with the bank was not used.
