An international forum dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Makhtumkuli Firagi was held in Turkmenistan
An international forum dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the Turkmen poet and thinker Makhtumkuli Firoghi was held in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, with the participation of the presidents of the Central Asian countries, Russia, Iran, Pakistan, Mongolia, and Armenia. Among others, the President of Uzbekistan gave a speech.
On October 11, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the international forum dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Turkmen poet and thinker Makhtumkuli Firoghi in the city of Ashgabat on the topic "Interdependence of times and civilizations - the basis of peace and development", the press service of the head of state reported.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kazakh President Kasim-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz Republic President Sadir Japarov, Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon, Iranian President Mas'ud Pezeshkiyan, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Mongolian President Ukhnaagin Khuralsukh, Armenian President Vaghan Khachaturyan attended the event chaired by Turkmen President Serdar Berdymukhamedov. , leaders and high-ranking representatives of parliaments of foreign countries, heads of international and regional organizations participated.
In his speech, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that holding the forum will be a huge practical step towards strengthening the ties of brotherhood and solidarity between peoples, bringing countries closer to each other, and promoting our rich spiritual heritage to the whole world.
It was noted that the creative heritage of Makhtumquli Firoghi enriched not only Eastern classical poetry, but also world literature.
Makhtumkuli's work is highly appreciated in Uzbekistan. The poet studied at the Shergazi Khan madrasa in Khiva, where he studied secular and religious sciences. He deeply respected the great Uzbek poet and thinker Alisher Navoi.
It was noted that the 300th anniversary of the birth of Makhtumkuli Firoghi is widely celebrated in Uzbekistan this year. A conference, seminar, literary evening, competition, performances and other events are being held. A feature film about the poet was shot by Uzbek and Turkmen filmmakers.
The leader of Uzbekistan supported the holding of a global summit in Ashgabat next year as part of the "Year of International Peace and Trust" announced by the UN General Assembly on the initiative of Turkmenistan.
Resident of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked the resident of Uzbekistan for his meaningful speech and the measures being implemented in Uzbekistan to perpetuate the memory of Makhtumkuli Firoghi, and announced that the head of state will award the Turkmen poet and thinker with a medal on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of his birth.
