On September 1, a sulfur gas leak was observed in a mine in Boysun district of Surkhandarya region, the Ministry of Emergencies of Uzbekistan reported.

It is noted that at 3:17 p.m., sulfur (hydrogen sulfide) gas was released due to a violation of the technological process during drilling operations in well No. 604 belonging to the "25th Anniversary of Independence" (M-25) mine located in the territory of the Kolkamysh MFY of the district.

"Citizens living near the mine were evacuated to a safe area in order to ensure the safety of the population," the report says.

Videos that have surfaced on social media show hundreds of people moving at night.

The FVV added that there were no cases of injuries or deaths of citizens.

According to the report of the Surkhandarya regional administration, the head of the region, Ulugbek Kasimov, officials of related official organizations, agencies and departments arrived in the area.

"Work is underway to study the level of air pollution in the area where the emergency occurred, to eliminate the resulting situations," the report says.
