The newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan, Oybek Usmanov, visited the capital of Afghanistan.

The diplomat is 62 years old, graduated from the Faculty of Philology and Oriental Studies of the Tashkent State University (now the National University of Uzbekistan), and worked as an ambassador to Pakistan in 2020-2024.

Oybek Usmanov has been working in the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1998, working in various positions in the central apparatus and diplomatic missions of our country abroad.

Before being appointed to Kabul, he was the ambassador to Egypt and Pakistan, and in 2011-2012, he was the deputy minister of foreign affairs of Uzbekistan. Fluent in Pashto-Dari and English.

Oybek Usmanov was appointed to replace Yodgorkhoja Shodmanov, who worked as ambassador in Kabul in 2012-2024.
