A factory for the production of batteries for electric cars will be built in the city of Gemlik in the Bursa region of Turkey. Mehmet Fatih Gajir, Minister of Industry and Technology of the country, informed about this.
After returning to China, the minister announced that GAC has held talks with major electric vehicle and battery manufacturers such as AION, Chery, Zeekr, BYD, SAIC, Farasis and Huawei.
"We are in favor of turning the transition to electric vehicles into an opportunity for Turkey. And the most important step we took to realize this goal was to open our Togg national brand," Kajir was quoted as saying by Anadolu Agency. He stated that Turkey intends to become one of the leading countries in this field.
During his visit to China, Kajir met with the management of the Farasis company. The organization intends to build a battery manufacturing plant in Gemlik together with the Turkish company Togg.
For information, the construction of the electric car factory in Gemlik, Turkey, which began in 2018 and started production from October 2022, has already delivered more than 15 thousand Togg cars to customers. It was reported that this number will reach 20,000 units by the end of the year, and the annual capacity will be tripled next year.
