9 Uzbeks have been detained in the UAE for 11 days

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan has sent a note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UAE regarding the situation and is waiting for a response.

"Employees of the law enforcement agencies of the UAE took about 15-20 citizens of Uzbekistan who were living on rent in a villa in Dubai. The incident happened on November 25. My brother was among the tenants there. There were many of them and they rented in one place because it was cheaper together. I don't know what the rest will do.

My brother has a work visa, he was working legally in a logistics company in Dubai airport. "Since November 25, we have not been able to contact my brother, my parents, we are all very worried," he said.

According to the petitioner, the local police did not give any explanation to anyone about the arrest of citizens of Uzbekistan. He got in touch with Sayfullo, an employee of the Consulate of Uzbekistan in Dubai. The consular official said that a note was sent to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs to clarify the issue, and a response is currently awaited.

Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Ahror Burhanov confirmed that citizens of Uzbekistan were detained in Dubai. He said that work is underway to solve the problem.

"On November 25, 9 citizens of Uzbekistan were arrested by law enforcement officers in Dubai. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the consulate are aware of this incident. We have sent a request to the relevant authorities of the UAE regarding the situation, but have not received a response from them. A lawyer has also been hired for the case," the MFA official said.

Sources in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan believe that there is a high probability that it is connected with the case of citizens of Uzbekistan who were arrested in the UAE on suspicion of killing an Israeli rabbi.

According to Israeli media, the Mossad believes the suspects are affiliated with a group linked to Iran.

Meanwhile, on November 26, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov met with the ambassador of Israel and stated that the government of Uzbekistan is closely cooperating with the authorities of the UAE and Israel in the investigation process.

After that, on November 30, 31 citizens of Uzbekistan who flew on the Tashkent-Abu Dhabi route - only men - were not allowed into the territory of the Emirates. They did not cross the border at Abu Dhabi International Airport. The embassy of Uzbekistan in the UAE communicated with the airport administration and the authorities of the emirates and reported that the situation is under control. Later, it was reported that some of the compatriots who stayed at the Abu Dhabi International Airport were returned to Uzbekistan.

On December 2, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bahromjon Aloev received UAE Ambassador to Uzbekistan Said Matar al-Qamzi. According to the information of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the parties exchanged views on the difficulties observed in the entry of citizens of Uzbekistan into the UAE in recent days and agreed to take measures to resolve the situation as soon as possible.
