5 Uzbeks killed in car accident in Russia

Five Uzbek citizens died in a road accident between a Cobalt car and a MAZ truck in the Ulyanovsk region of Russia on December 17, the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Kazan reported.

The accident occurred at around 05:10 local time on the Saransk-Surskoe-Ulyanovsk route. According to the Ulyanovsk Regional Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the driver of the Cobalt lost control, crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a truck.

According to the information provided, 5 citizens of Uzbekistan: KS; 47-year-old AA; 47-year-old BO; 36-year-old JI; 20-year-old KA, were killed. The truck driver was hospitalized with serious injuries.

The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Kazan is monitoring the situation and, together with the competent authorities, is taking measures to repatriate the bodies of the deceased.

An investigation into the incident is underway.
