The virtues of the month of Rajab

The Arabic word "rajab" means "to glorify" or "to respect."

What kind of month is Rajab?

The month of Rajab is one of the months in which Allah Almighty has forbidden war (like Dhul-Qa'dah, Dhul-Hijjah, Muharram, and Rajab).

What historical events happened in the month of Rajab?

During the flood that flooded the earth, Noah (peace be upon him) boarded the ark on the first day of the month of Rajab;

– The first revelation to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was revealed in the month of Rajab;

According to a popular belief, the event of Isra and Miraj occurred in the month of Rajab.

What are the virtues of the month of Rajab?

The month of Rajab is a blessed and great month, and a small good deed in it is rewarded with many rewards. Prayers are accepted and supplications are answered. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “There are five nights in which supplications are not rejected: the night before Rajab; the night of the middle of Sha’ban; the night of Friday; the night of Eid al-Fitr and the night of Sacrifice.” (Narrated by Ibn Asokir)

How did the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) spend the month of Rajab?

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) fasted in the month of Rajab. It was narrated from Uthman ibn Hakim that he said: “I asked Sa’id ibn Jubayr about fasting in Rajab when we were in the month of Rajab. He said: I heard Ibn Abbas say: ‘The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to fast, and we would say: “He would not open his mouth.” His mouth would be open, and we would say: “He would not fast.”’”

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to encourage people to seek forgiveness a lot in the month of Rajab. Sayyidun al-istighʻfor said: “O Allah, there is no god but Allah, who created you, and who made you, and who made you, and who promised you, and who has

When the month of Rajab entered, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would supplicate: “Allahumma barik lana fi rajabin wa shaʻbanah, wa ballighna ramazanah” (“O Allah, bless us in the months of Rajab and Shaʻban, and let us reach the month of Ramadan!”) (Imam Bayhaqi and Imam Tabarani narrated from Anas ibn Malik, may Allah be pleased with him).

One of our scholars said: "Rajab is like the wind, Sha'ban is like the clouds, and Ramadan is like the rain. If someone does not sow crops in Rajab and does not water them in Sha'ban, how will he get a harvest in Ramadan?"

Therefore, in order for our harvest to be abundant in Ramadan, let us follow the example of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and continue to do more righteous deeds and good prayers during the month of Rajab. May Allah Almighty make the months of Rajab and Sha'ban blessed for all believers and bring all sincere hearts to the holy month of Ramadan in good health!
