The importance of repentance: a person is not required to be completely innocent

The fact that man is a fallible creature is one of the truths of the education of the soul. Mistakes are in his nature and this trait circulates in his veins along with his blood. Allah Almighty has not required anyone to be absolutely innocent. On the contrary, Allah wants man, if he makes a mistake, to return to righteousness and repent.

That is, if a person makes an unexpected mistake, he should not continue in this way. If he stumbles and falls, he should get up again and shake off the dust that has settled on him. In this way, he should rebuild the path that leads to the idea that he wants to achieve.

The human soul is like his body. Both need constant purification. Just as the earthly environment pollutes the human body with dust and dirt, and a person removes these things from himself for the health of his body, the soul also wants to stay close to harmful, evil deeds, and temptations, and this makes it necessary to repeatedly repent and remove the traces of sin.

The Holy Quran also refers to this and says: " Indeed , Allah loves those who repent and love those who purify themselves" (Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 222).

For example, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) would renew his repentance every moment and say: "Repent to Allaah. I repent to Him a hundred times a day."

Allah Almighty also says in the Quran about Solomon: How excellent a servant he was! Indeed, he was oft-repentant ” (Surah Sad, verse 30).

It is worth noting that if harmful, bad feelings occupy the heart and it cannot be freed from the successive temptations and this situation continues in this way, it will be trapped in the darkness of darkness. After this, even the light of repentance may not be able to pierce this darkness. Faith will gradually begin to recede from such a heart. Eventually, the heart will no longer feel the sweetness of faith and condemn itself to a life of ignorance.

Allah Almighty says in the Quran: “ Nay! But whoever earns evil and his sins encompass him, those are the companions of the Fire, they will abide therein forever.” (Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 81)
