What is Zuha prayer?

Zuha prayer is a voluntary prayer performed after sunrise and before noon, recommended by the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). It is a prayer performed to seek Allah's grace, abundance of sustenance, and forgiveness of sins.

The virtues of Zuha prayer

There are great virtues in performing the Zuha prayer. The following virtues are mentioned in the hadiths about this prayer:

  • Allah Almighty will give great rewards to the one who recites it;
  • A palace will be prepared in Paradise for the one who prays 12 rak'ahs of Zuha prayer;
  • This prayer brings blessings to a person's daily sustenance;
  • It causes the forgiveness of sins;
  • The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There is charity for every joint of a person. Every tasbeeh (Subhanallah) is charity, every tahmid (Alhamdulillah) is charity, every tahlil (La ilaha illallah) is charity, every takbir (Allahu Akbar) is charity. Enjoining good and forbidding evil are also charity. And for all of this, two rak'ahs of Zuha prayer are equivalent." (Narrated by Muslim)

How many rak'ahs is the Zuha prayer?

Zuha prayer can be performed in a minimum of 2 rak'ahs and a maximum of 12 rak'ahs. Our Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) often performed 4 or 8 rak'ahs.

The order of performing the Zuha prayer

  1. First, ablution is performed.
  2. The intention is made: "I intend to pray two rak'ahs of the Zuha prayer for the sake of Allah Almighty."
  3. In each rak'ah, after Surah Al-Fatiha, several verses or a Surah from the Quran are recited.
  4. After 2 rak'ahs, one can say the salaam and then pray 2 more rak'ahs.

Is it possible to pray Zuha prayer in congregation?

Since Zuha prayer is a voluntary act of worship, it is preferable to pray it alone at home or in a mosque. However, if several people want to pray it together in congregation, that is also permissible. However, unlike obligatory and obligatory prayers, it is not recommended to pray voluntary prayers in congregation, but rather it is advisable for each person to pray it individually.

When can I pray Zuha prayer?

The Zuha prayer begins approximately 15-20 minutes after sunrise (i.e., when the sun's rays are spreading) and continues until the makruh time before noon.

  • Spiritual tranquility throughout the day - This prayer strengthens a person's spiritual state.
  • Compensating for shortcomings – If there are shortcomings in fasting, voluntary prayers will help to compensate for them.
  • Nafl prayers are given the reward of obligatory prayers – Our Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever does a good deed in Ramadan, it is equal to one obligatory prayer performed in other months. Whoever fulfills an obligatory prayer, it is equal to seventy obligatory prayers performed in other months.” (Narrated by Ibn Khuzaymah)
