White House: Ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon should be extended

The White House has called for an immediate extension of the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, White House National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes said at a press conference.

Hughes said that US President Donald Trump remains committed to ensuring the safety of Israeli citizens, while continuing to support the new Lebanese government.

"All parties must prevent Hezbollah from regaining its ability to threaten the Lebanese people and its neighbors," Hughes said.

He also noted the importance of extending the temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.

According to the agreement reached between Israel and Lebanon, Israel was given 48 hours to completely withdraw its troops from Lebanese territory.

However, the Israeli side claimed that Lebanon had not complied with the ceasefire conditions, and said that this process could be delayed.
