Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has confirmed his intention to create an " Independent Bektashi State " in the capital city of Tirana , which will serve as a symbol of religious tolerance .

It is noted that the project, inspired by the Vatican, aims to promote the traditions of peaceful coexistence between different religions, which are part of Albanian culture.

"We must value and protect religious tolerance, which is our wealth - an important part of our history," said Rama , explaining the purpose of creating a new state.

The Gooseberry State will be four times the size of the Vatican and will have no military and legal structures, but will become an important cultural symbol. Rama also noted that the project is still in its early stages, and its implementation will take time.

According to the census data, about 115,000 of the 2.4 million inhabitants of Albania are members of the Bektoshi Ylar sect.

Bektashis are a Sufism sect that is widespread mainly in Turkey and Albania and was founded by Haji Bektash Vali Nishopuri Khurasani (1208 - 1270) in the 13th century. Bektashis, like Shiites, believe in Hazrat Ali and 12 Imams, especially the 6th Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq.

According to the founder of the sect, Ahmad Aflaqi, he did not follow Sharia rules and never prayed. The main ideas of the sect are respect for others and tolerance. The Bektashis have an allegorical understanding of the doctrine of wahdat al-wudjud and the Qur'an and Sharia. They celebrate Nowruz as Ali's birthday and do penance to their teacher every year.
