US offers $10 million reward for information on Al-Qaeda leader
The US State Department has increased the reward for information leading to the location or identity of Saad bin Atif al-Awlaki, the current leader of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, to $10 million.
For your information, al-Awlaki, also known as Abu Layth, became the leader of the group after the death of previous al-Qaeda leader Khalid Batarfi in March 2024. According to American officials, he:
- Called on his supporters to launch attacks against the United States and its allies;
- Participated in the kidnapping of American citizens;
- Led attacks against Americans in Yemen.
