UN Commission:
Israel is committing genocide in Gaza
The United Nations (UN) Commission of Inquiry on Gaza has declared that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians and has failed to fulfill its obligations to prevent and punish it.
The 72-page report, chaired by former International Criminal Court judge Navi Pillay, found that Israel violated four of the five articles of the 1948 Genocide Convention: murder, causing grievous bodily harm, creating conditions of life likely to be fatal, and cruel measures against Palestinians in Gaza.
The commission found that the Israeli government and security forces acted with the intent to completely annihilate the Palestinians.
"The Israeli government and security forces are committing massacres of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip," the report says.
The Commission emphasizes that Israel is responsible for direct and public incitement to genocide, as set forth in Article III of the Genocide Convention.
The Jewish state refused to cooperate with the commission, calling its report biased.
