Ukrainian army launches counteroffensive in Donetsk region: village of Peschanoe liberated

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have launched their first large-scale counter-offensive in a year, liberating the village of Peschanoe in Donetsk region. The Ukrainian army's offensive operation forced Russian troops to retreat from the area, located five kilometers from the city of Pokrovsk.

Military analysts note that the Ukrainian army has launched a series of counterattacks from various directions, advancing two kilometers into neighboring settlements. Although the liberated area is still small, this is considered the first retreat of Russian troops since the fall of 2023.

Russian sources confirm that the Ukrainian army has established itself in an industrial zone west of the village of Peschanoe and is fighting in residential areas.

The Ukrainian army is also active on Russian territory. There are reports that Ukrainian troops have taken control of three small settlements in the Kursk region.
