248 prisoners returned to Russia, and 230 prisoners returned to Ukraine . Russia recognized the humanitarian role of the UAE in this exchange of prisoners.
Ukraine returned more than 200 Ukrainian soldiers and civilians from Russian captivity. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi informed about this.
According to him, they are soldiers, sergeants, officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, National Guard, Navy, border guards. Some of them took part in battles in Mariupol and Azovstal.
" Ukraine has returned home 230 Ukrainian military and civilians from captivity - this is the largest exchange of all, " reported the Ukrainian Coordinating Staff for Dealing with Prisoners of War.
According to the report , among those returned are those who have the status of official prisoners of war confirmed by the International Committee of the Red Cross (182 people), Ukrainian servicemen who are declared missing and who have the status of "wanted person " (48) .
Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets said that 230 Ukrainian prisoners are "already in their homes".
The Ministry of Defense of Russia announced that 248 servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces have returned from captivity in Ukraine.
The Ministry noted that this exchange of prisoners took place due to the "humanitarian mediating participation of the UAE " .
The Ministry of Defense also added that servicemen will be transported to the Ministry's medical facilities for treatment and rehabilitation on military transport aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
