Trump wants to talk to Putin about Ukraine as soon as he takes office

US President-elect Donald Trump plans to hold a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin soon after his inauguration. According to CNN, the purpose of the call is to continue negotiations aimed at ending the war in Ukraine through a personal meeting.

Although Trump's team has begun preparations for the meeting in advance, the exact date of the phone call is not yet known. American and Russian officials are expected to expedite the organization of a face-to-face meeting after the conversation.

Donald Trump has repeatedly said since taking office that he would take active steps to resolve the Russia-Ukraine war. The Washington Post previously reported that he had spoken with Putin by phone, a report the Kremlin denied.

Switzerland and Serbia have expressed their willingness to host a meeting between Trump and Putin. National Security Advisor Mike Walz said that no decision has yet been made on whether Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will attend the meeting.
