Trump and Putin say they won't attend talks in Istanbul

According to Reuters, US President Donald Trump has announced that he will not participate in the talks scheduled to be held in Istanbul.

Russian President Vladimir Putin also announced earlier that he would not participate in these talks. According to sources close to him, Putin's absence from the talks is due to political strategy.

The Istanbul meeting was seen as a major diplomatic event, expected to feature the leaders of the United States, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine. However, the absence of Trump and Putin could affect the political weight and outcome of the talks. So far, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky have been confirmed to attend.
Both sides have completed preparations for peace talks in Istanbul aimed at ending the war between Russia and Ukraine.

The Russian delegation is headed by Vladimir Medinsky, an adviser to President Vladimir Putin. His delegation includes Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, Chief of the General Staff Igor Kostyukov, Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin, and a number of experts.

According to Ukrainian media, the delegation from Kiev will be led by the head of the presidential administration, Andriy Yermak. He will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Andriy Sybikha, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, Presidential Advisor Igor Zhovkva, and many other officials.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will also not participate in the talks in person. He is expected to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara.

Trump, who has said he will not attend the Istanbul talks, will be replaced by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Friday. Rubio is expected to be accompanied by Trump's special representative for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, and Middle East envoy Steve Whitkoff.
