The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates has informed that it is ready to immediately provide all consular services to Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, who was arrested in France, and to send a relevant request to Paris.

It is known that the billionaire has citizenship of four countries (Russian Federation, France, UAE and St. Kitts and Nevis in the Caribbean).

Abu Dhabi noted that it is closely monitoring the case of its compatriot who was arrested at the Paris airport. In the statement of the diplomatic institution, it is emphasized that the welfare of the citizens of the country and the protection of their interests are the first priority for the UAE authorities.

Earlier, the French prosecutor's office announced that the preliminary investigation against Durov began in early July. He is suspected of having committed more than ten crimes related to the use of Telegram. These include not providing information to the government.

Observers point out that the main "client" of the case against the founder of the messenger is the United States of America, thus aiming at several goals at the same time, including gaining control of Telegram.
