Internet and mobile communications were completely blacked out in the country on Thursday after 22 people were killed in clashes with police.

Demonstrators broke into the office of state television, started a fire in the building's parking lot and lobby.

"I managed to escape, but several of my colleagues were trapped inside. The attackers entered the building and burned the furniture," said one of the employees.

Funeral prayers for those killed in the riots are being offered in all mosques across the country.

The country's leader, Sheikh Hasina, accused the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party of destabilizing the situation. law enforcement agencies began arresting activists of the party's student wing.
