The number of Israelis applying for German citizenship has increased
According to the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 18,448 applications for German citizenship were received from Israel in 9 months of 2024. In 2023, this indicator was 9,178, and in 2022, it was 5,705. Israelis living outside Israel and applying for citizenship are not included in these statistics.
According to the statement of the German Interior Ministry to the parliamentary group of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, 18,448 applications for German citizenship were received from Israel in the 9th month of 2024.
The statement noted that 9,178 people from Israel applied for German citizenship in 2023, and a total of 5,705 in 2022.
The statement also excludes Israelis living outside of Israel who apply for citizenship in these statistics.
From 2021, those oppressed by the Nazi regime and their descendants will be able to obtain German citizenship without any other conditions.
