The founder of the theory of "soft power" has died
Joseph Nye, a prominent American political scientist and creator of the theory of "soft power," has died at the age of 88. This was reported by representatives of Harvard University.
Nye developed a concept for Western countries to influence other countries without direct military intervention. To do this, they had to promote cultural values, media, and lifestyles.
The theory of "soft power" also served as a basis for promoting liberal ideas and the Western order, and aimed to influence traditional societies by creating an attractive image from within. Nye's theory was widely used, especially in US foreign policy, and was seen as an effective way to export Western liberal values to other countries.
For information, Nye served as Assistant Secretary of Defense and Chairman of the National Intelligence Council under US President Bill Clinton (1993-2001).
