The European Union allocates financial aid for Palestine
The European Union has reached a preliminary agreement on providing financial assistance to the Palestinian Authority led by Mahmoud Abbas. According to the Quds News Agency, the EU plans to provide up to 1 billion euros over the next two years.
This decision was made against the backdrop of internal protests and international controversy following the Palestinian Authority's February 2025 repeal of legal provisions regulating payments to the families of martyrs, prisoners, and the wounded, the source said.
In addition, the Palestinian Authority requested $680 million in security assistance from the United States in January 2025, following Operation Homeland Security against resistance groups in the Jenin refugee camp, in return for which it committed to ending the resistance movement.
It should be noted that in the summer of 2023, the European Commission also announced the allocation of 400 million euros in aid to the Palestinian Authority until October 2024 .
