The young Spanish parliamentarian Jorge Pueyo announced that he will participate in a multi-day hunger strike in solidarity with Palestine.

At a press conference in the parliament, the 29-year-old deputy announced that he joined the action organized by the Palestine House and the Jerusalem Association in his native Aragon region on November 19.

"There are times in life and politics when words are not enough and example becomes important," Pueyo said.

The politician said that he started the hunger strike a day ago and plans to continue until the end of the week.

Pueyo, who is the deputy speaker of parliament for the Sumar Alliance, a junior partner in Spain's left-wing coalition government, also called on his government to cut diplomatic and trade ties with Israel, impose a full arms embargo on the country and support increased awareness of the Palestinian issue.
