According to the Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Ikrami, since 2021, the share of the ruble in the calculations between the republic and Russia has almost doubled to 97.5%, TASS reports.

"It should be noted that the share of the Russian ruble in the calculations of foreign trade operations of the Republic of Tajikistan is 97.5 percent. In 2021, this indicator will be only 45 percent," said Ikromi.

According to the deputy chairman of the National Bank, about 60% of Tajik banks have opened representative accounts in Russian banks. At the same time, Tajikistan and Russia found opportunities to continue cooperation in the financial sector in the face of Western sanctions against Russia.

It is noted that in August 2024, the chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, Firdavs Talibzoda, reported that the amount of settlements in rubles with CIS participants had increased. The share of such operations in the republic reached almost 60%. According to him, the volume of payments in dollars is decreasing.
