Tajikistan abolishes criminal liability for clicking "like"
Today, on May 14, the law signed by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon (https://khovar.tj/rus/2025/05/prezident-respubliki-tadzhikistan-emomali-rahmon-podpisal-ryad-zakonov-18/) abolished criminal liability for "liking" and other marks on posts on social networks.
Earlier, Emomali Rahmon expressed concern that citizens were being imprisoned for liking materials on the Internet.
For your information, until now, Tajik citizens have been held criminally liable for "liking" or sharing prohibited materials published on the Internet.
According to Umed Karimzoda, the First Deputy Prosecutor General of Tajikistan, 1,507 citizens are currently being held in prison for liking videos and reports on the Internet, as well as for writing "comments and opinions of terrorist and extremist content."
