Tajik woman sentenced to 8 years in prison for smuggling marijuana into Russia


The Prosecutor General's Office of Tajikistan has asked citizens not to bring drugs into Russia.

The fact is that two Tajik women with a gun in their luggage were detained at a Russian airport. A criminal case has been opened against them under Articles 228 (Part 2) and 229.1 (Part 3) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. These articles provide for charges such as sale, unauthorized storage, transportation and processing of narcotic drugs, as well as their illegal crossing of the border.

After the investigation was completed, the case was transferred to court and the woman was sentenced to 8 years in prison. There is no information about the fate of the second woman who was arrested. The relationship between the accused women and their relatives is also unknown.

Earlier, the Tajik Ministry of Internal Affairs announced a list of 10 plants banned in Russia.
